Happy National Pecan Day! Actually, there are 2 Pecan Day's: one in March and one in April. Pretty nutty huh? (I know, horrible joke).
The National Pecan Shellers Association are little more serious about their business, and have the history of pecans for your edification, though, thankfully, as they point out, the month of April is all about pecans, in case you were caught unawares today. It's been a few years since Slashfood observed the occasion, but in case you wanted to get in the kitchen with some pecans, they'll point you towards some recipes. (Doing the whole Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally "proud to partake of your peeeeee-caaan piiiiie" bit is entirely optional, though suggested.)
